A Flock of Geese
well the name actually is Stars and Pinwheels by Missouri Star Quilt Co. but there is a lot of geese flying around in this quilt. this will be a queen size with some more pinwheels in the first border then a six inch to finish it off. Three more rows of blocks to be sewn up. maybe I can get them sewn up before I go to work tonight.๐

Happy Mother's Day and a string
Happy Mother's Day Everyone, either human or the furry kind.
Once a month a LQS does a thing they call "Lil' This Lil' That" they showcase patterns, books, wool kits, and more. They allow time for show and tell, and some of these ladies are amazing at what they do. I don't get there every month but I made it yesterday. I came home with a Moda scrap bag of Larkspur, ran some errands and came home and decided to do a string quilt with the scraps.

It's our State Employee Charitable Campaign time of year I am thinking donating this. I have 25 6 1/2inch blocks I am adding that tan sashing with a white corner stone. that last one i will replace- its too off center, I wasnt going for perfect alignment but that is to different and to obvious. I am linking up with OH Scrap and since I am in a strip making mood will be sending some orange and red blocks her way.

back to the Migrating North Quilt
I finally got back to sewing this past Saturday, I am working on the borders for the Migrating North Quilt. see the original post here
I had decided to do Delectable Mountains, I was doing fine until I was informed that they upgraded to a KING. So I had been winging it on the design from the beginning, I will need to add more strip borders to add more width . I want the mountains to be on the sides not on the top. I will have to go to my son's house and place it on his bed and see how much more fabric I will need to add. I have never made a KING size before and I would like to see it on the bed to get a visual of where the design falls. My length is good to go.

what's on 1st, who's on 2nd?
OKAY, yesterday I posted who's on 1st?
WELL today What's on 1st? and Who's on 2nd?
I had to do a line-up change, while I like my initial choice, I think It comes off to modern and won't appeal to the masses
after all, this is going to be raffled off so I had to change up
who doesn't like BATIKS? I believe this will draw more attention
I am so glad I decided to start cutting today, so that I am still ahead in the game. Any thoughts?? anna

Who's on 1st?
Who's on 1st? I have always liked that skit from Abbott and Costello, gosh I haven't seen any old shows like that in awhile. But anyway I was supposed to receive some fabric on Tuesday to finish the borders on the Migrating Geese quilt, well it was mis sent to Ohio and not expected to arrive until Saturday now. Today I received another order I had placed which brings me to the answer to the question Who's on 1st?
This is

I have everything needed for the next quilt on hand, yea!
My cousin is having a dinner benefit for his step daughter to cover some of her medical cost, I offered to make a quilt so that they could raffle it off at the dinner. I have until the end of May to complete, not so bad should be enough time, RIGHT? Thankfully my vaca starts this Friday night at 1230pm yippee. And everything else will take a back seat to insure a Finish. I am sure I will have this all cut up by Sat afternoon. I will post again once I get some sewing started. anna

Pathways
I downloaded this pattern back in 2012 from Moda Bake Shop called Simply Woven. I made all the blocks back in January and I only used 3 different colors, it did not have the bold effect of that in the pattern. So these blocks sat in waiting.
now it's March and i had just watched the free weekend of The Quilt Show, and I caught the episode with Victoria Findlay Wolfe. Her inspiration was "if you don't like it Cut it up" So guess what I did next YEP I cut it up!!

and I like how this turned out, it will finish at 48x48 and bonus I have all that wonderful(not negative) space to practice FMQ. No Fabric wasted here. I will do the Simply Woven Quilt again but with more colors. anna

Spring Cleaning and some Sewing
I haven't had the grandkids in two weeks. So I have spent my days painting all the trim and baseboards, I have stained the stairs, I put up a vinyl tree motif in the dining room which I also painted. Whew!! I did get into the sewing room, first I cleaned and rearranged it, cleaned and oiled my machine, and got to sewing. I finished the top of the triangle quilt, I finished all the migrating geese, and I managed to get started on a memory quilt for my mom who just turned 90 (she only wanted the grands and great grands). I will have to add color she won't like all that black. A couple more pictures and hope to have it done by next weekend. Wishful!!!
these two cuties are the youngest of my grandkids and those three are my boys
although I miss the kids, Happy to have gotten so much done. anna

Migrating North
so I started with this quilt awhile ago, I knew I wanted the paisley to stand out, so I added coins but I didn't like what I had put together.
It sat on my wall for months trying to find different fabric. I got the blue/gray fabric and pulled a charm pack I had. In the meantime I came across Deb Tucker's Migrating Geese video, I liked it so much better than the coins. So this is what I have come up with... I hope it doesn't take as long to put it together as it took for me to get it together. I will add a thin border in between the strips. This will be a queen size that will go to my youngest and his wife.

Triangles
This is what I have going on now, all rows are sewn, but not to each other. I had to add the black triangles to make it a little bigger. I did take time to lay this out but something got out of order from my wall to my machine. oh well.. I'm not going to pick it apart. it is what it is.
